Then I have to assume you have no objection to capital punishment on moral or ethical grounds? Being opposed to capital punishment only because it would make America look better in the eyes of the world is no reason to oppose it. Believing that human life is precious and must be protected at all costs is a much better reason.
Then, again, I don't really give squat for what the people in other countries think about our government. They don't vote here, nor do I worry about their opinion if I want to go out and eat, see a movie, or anything else. They do not count in my world. Except as human beings and I bitterly object to the actions of their governments as it affects the peoples' human rights. Just as I object to our own governments actions that have a deleterious effect upon the life of our citizens.
My morality and ethics require that government refrain from violence against its own citizens. I am opposed to the electric chair for the exact same reason I am opposed to the whipping post. I do uphold the right of all humanaity both good and bad to live. Freedom to some degree the right to be free of fear from violence.
